Drive The Big 5 always has a target of the number of species that we aim to see on any one trip into Kruger, and on Monday, May 08, the target was 15 different animal species. This “little game” makes a day trip into Kruger even that much more exciting! Plus, the guest who gets to spot the first animal, gets a complimentary bottle of wine as a “prize!”

Today’s route took us from Numbi Gate, down the Voortrekker Road to the Afsaal picnic spot, where we had breakfast. After breakfast, up to Skukuza for lunch, game viewing/animal spotting en route, and where Sylvie and her two friends did some curio shopping for gifts for family and friends back home in France. We then spent the rest of the afternoon game viewing/animal spotting whilst we made our way from Skukuza back to Numbi Gate, to exit the Park at Numbi Gate at 18h00, when the Parks gates close. All in all, we spent about 12 hours in Kruger, game viewing/animal and bird spotting in Kruger, and we covered about 130 km’s. Our day target of 15 animal species was easily achieved, we spotted 20 different species in a 12-hour period, covering some 130 km’s.

Not a bad tally for a day in Kruger. We got 4 of the “Big 5”, lion on a kill about 5 meters from the vehicle, many rhino, three huge herds of buffalo, some 100 plus animals, and plenty of elephant. Only the leopard was missing! Oh well, you can’t see everything! That gives you the excuse to came back again!! Also conspicuous by its absence was a sighting of zebra!! Kruger’s lion population is about 1 600 lion, Kruger’s zebra population is about 30 000 zebra. Yet we saw 2 lions and no zebra – go figure. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time.

The total species count of 20 different species was: lion; vervet monkey; impala; elephant; slender-tailed mongoose; white rhino; hyaena; baboon; giraffe; wildebeest; klipspringer; kudu; tree squirrel; buffalo; Nyala; steenbok; waterbuck; hippo; dwarf mongoose; warthog.

Dear Tim,

Compliments of the season and everything of the best for 2016. Please accept my apologies for the delay in reply. The season has been overwhelming and I am still catching up on emails. Thank you for the feedback on the Patel Family. I did speak to them and they told me that they had a fantastic time on the game drive. The family who saw all BIG 5 where over the moon. J

Just to confirm that the transfer from Protea to Nelspruit via the panorama tour went well and Derick was fantastic as a guide. It was incredible to see that he was not only interested in being our driver but he was interested in being our guide and to make us comfortable. He loves what he do and that is very important for a guide.

Thank you very much for your support and assistance.

I will recomend your company to all my friends and family.

Best regards

Hi Alicia, Tim and all

Thanks so much for delivering all our transfers. We wanted to let you know that Derick was a delight throughout, always cheerful, arriving with plenty of time in hand ( particularly reassuring when we were meeting a plane) and a careful safe driver.
I would not hesitate in using your company again.
